Traveling to The Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China is one of the oldest structures known to mankind. The Great Wall of China was built over 2000 years ago by Qin Shi Huangdi, who was the first emperor of China during the Qin Dynasty. The wall was used as a border/military defense  against invading tribes. China would use signal fires on the wall to provide an early warning of attack. Millions of people would stand guard on the wall to ensure their nations safety, they would wield weapons such as the crossbow, axes, lances and even gunpowder! These brave people, workers included who passed away while working on or guarding the wall were buried within the walls themselves. Some call The Wall the world's longest cemetery. As time went on, the wall would be added onto and built, extended, rebuilt and eroded by many Dynasties.

Today in total, the wall stretches a total length of 13,170 miles. If all parts of the wall were still standing and all parts that were rebuilt added onto the end of the walls, the miles it would add up to would be larger than the earth's circumference which is about 24,000 miles. This massive wall was constructed many years ago and has its place in our world's history. The Great Wall of China stands for the unification of the Chinese to work together for the good of their nation. It is a powerful symbol that has become a tourist attraction in their great country. The wall is so massive that it can be see from outer space. Just imagine the millions of people it took to build the Great Wall over time.
