Since Greece is a major place to travel in the world, the locals have learned how to interpret or give good enough explanations to get you what you need. Most importantly, Greeks are very friendly to tourists and even more welcoming when you try to speak the language. Just like in any culture, if you are kind and polite; you will be treated in the same way. On the bad side of things if you are rude and inconsiderate, well let's just say Greeks have a certain way of winning arguments. When visiting the country of Greece, you should be ready to have the time of your life. Islands, churches and historical/archaeological sites are the most visited places in Greece, in fact that's most likely one of the reasons you are traveling there.
